Reproduction of Michelangelo's Libyan Sibyl,Oil, 22x28

Reproduction of the Libyan Sibyl
Oil on Canvas Panel
22" x 28"
Collection of the artist.

The original is a detail from the Sistine Chapel of the Vatican, painted by Michelangelo approx. 1510. This is one of the more prominent of the prophet figures on the ceiling.

Painted in San Francisco, 1995. This was my first copy of a renaissance painting. I was lucky enough to see the painting in person in 1999, after the restoration. The Libyan Sibyl is revealed in striking color and in a strange and delicate pose, at once rising and twisting. She is simply gorgeous.
